- GRAYISH-BLUE SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE
- APPARENT ON FIRST STARTING ENGINE OR DURING ACCELERATION
- OCCURS ON RESTART OR AFTER CAR REMAINS OVERNIGHT
- EVENTUALLY BLUE SMOKE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES
POTENTIAL CAUSE(S)
CHECK THESE FIRST:
1. WORN PISTON RINGS OR CYLINDERS
Change oil and filter; use heavy weight oil.
Have pistons or cylinders professionally repaired.2. WORN VALVE SEALS
Have valve seals professionally replaced.CHECK THESE NEXT:
3. CLOGGED CYLINDER HEAD OIL DRAIN HOLES
Remove engine sludge.4. LEAKING VACUUM MODULATOR (ENGINE BURNING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID); CONFIRMED IF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IS ALWAYS LOW
Have vacuum modulator professionally replaced.CHECK THIS LAST:
5. BROKEN MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP DIAPHRAGM
Have mechanical fuel pump professionally replaced.
